As it has been reported that running back Jamal Lewis may start a new life away from football after being placed on injured reserve Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns safety Brodney Pool may also face the same future.
A starter at his position and a five-year veteran, Pool suffered at least his fourth known concussion during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was also placed on injured reserve. Having started 10 games this season and 49 in Browns jersey since the Browns selected him in the second round of the 2005 draft out of Oklahoma, Pool really needs to make a decision on his NFL career after sustaining so many concussions.
The Browns have already placed Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers and inside linebackers D'Qwell Jackson and Eric Barton on injured reserve. To lose both Lewis and Pool for the season just made the team’s future of this season even blacker.

Eagles RB Westbrook uncertain for Sunday game
It is still unsure whether the Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian westbrook will play against the New York Giants on Sunday. The player wearing Eagles jerseys did not practice Wednesday after being knocked unconscious in the Eagles 27-17 win over the Washington Redskins on Monday night.
The concussion happened when Westbrook took a knee to his head in the first quarter. As the NFL instituted a rule in 2007 that states a player who loses consciousness during the course of a game cannot return to that game, he did not play the rest of the game.
Westbrook was not available to media on Wednesday, a day he is scheduled to do his weekly press conference. Both head coach Andy Reid and trainer Rick Burkholder said that the star running back was doing better immediately after the game.
“He knows everything,” Burkholder said. “He knows his brother was on the field. He knows Andy was behind me. He remembers walking off the field, going to the locker room, being on the field in the second half. He remembers all of that.”
So it seemed that Westbrook was not seriously injured, but who knows about the hangover? As the league commissioner was testifying before the Congress about the relation between head injuries on the football field and later brain diseases, it is still early to say it is ok for Westbrook to play again.
