The Baltimore Ravens just signed ten years veteran quarterback Marc Bulger to a one-year contract worth $3.8 million, so the former St. Louis Rams starting quarterback will play as a backup for Ravens young starter Joe Flacco in 2010 season. At age 33, Bulger said he would fine to play a backup role with one of his favorite teams.
"It should be a different role, but it was made clear to me up front that would be my role there," Bulger said today during a conference call. "I understand whatever capacity I can help Joe, I'll do it. It's just about helping us win football games."
Bulger previously was expecting to land on another his favorite team the New Orleans Saints, who are also in need of a backup quarterback for starter Drew Brees. However, the Saints plan to wait until the deadline for signing unrestricted free agent to pick a free agent as their backup quarterback. They did not expect that Bulger would be signed away by the Ravens. Bulger did not regret for missing the chance to put on Saints jersey and said that he would do his best to help Flacco establish as much as possible.
