Since Kerry Collins took over for Vince Young early in the 2008 season, he has been considered a team leader in the Titans. Collins walks into camp on the first day and has command of the huddle from the start. That puts an end to any sort of distractions.
NFL teams that head into camp without controversy at the quarterback position usually hit the ground running. The offense is installed, the players know who their unquestioned leader is and a team can start to form on those hot, muggy August days on the practice field. The way the Titans play football is good and Collins is the best choice for the job. He has the arm strength to throw the ball with anyone in the league, and now that the Titans added some talent and depth at receiver with Nate Washington and rookie Kenny Britt. Fortunately they did not choose saints jersey.
The Titans is still led by its attacking defense, but with Collins under center from day one, we can expect their offense to become more prolific.
