The unrestricted free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens seemed to run out of his chances of getting a new job before it was reported that the St. Louis Rams are holding interests in signing the veteran wide receiver. When it seems extremely unlikely for Owens to put on New Orleans Saints jersey, joining a lowly ranked team like Rams is just not a bad idea.
ESPN.com reported on Saturday that the Rams have intensified discussions about Owens, who has been on the market since the start of free agency in March. According to Rams general manager Billy Devaney, Owens was just one of the unsigned veterans being considered by the Rams. So the 36-year-old veteran will still face competition from other receivers.
Ranking sixth in NFL history with 1,006 receptions, third with 14,930 receiving yards and fifth with 147 touchdowns, Owens was last seen in a Favre jersey working out on his own. He has played 14 seasons and split them with four different teams: the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills, but he did not help the Bills a lot in his only season there. But to the Rams, Owens’ arrival could just be a great help as their only experienced receiver on roster is Laurent Robinson, who is still recovering from an injury sustained in 2009 season.

Bengals are working on Coach Lewis’ contract extension
The Cincinnati Bengals do not want their head coach Marvin Lewis to coach those wearing New Orleans Saints jerseys, so they are now working on a contract extension with Lewis, who would love to stay as long as the team’s offer is alluring enough.
“Mike and I at some point hopefully come to an agreement from both sides of us and we all feel good about,” Lewis told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “We have spoken about the contract a few times since then but we don’t talk about it daily. That’s not me to worry about it or bring it up. I don’t go about it that way. I would love to continue to coach here. I think every year is a new challenge, a new start and hell we’ve got Ocho.”
Although the Bengals do not lure a quarterback like the one in No.4 Brett Favre jersey, Lewis still has a strong reason to stay with team: he is getting along very well with the Bengals owner Mike Brown, who is always supporting the coach’s decision and offers as much help as possible.

Bucs rookie DT McCoy would like to sign after Sam Bradford
Just like the first overall draft pick of 2010 NFL draft Sam Bradford, the third overall draft pick Gerald McCoy is still in talks with his team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his first NFL contract. While Bradford’s main concern is on how much he should be paid, McCoy is having his eyes on the progress of Bradford’s contract talks.
McCoy does not want to be lowly paid, after all he was drafted third overall. But he neither wants to overrate himself by asking for too much, so his current biggest wish is that Bradford signs his contract with the St. Louis Rams and then he will know how much he should ask for from the Bucs. Failing to put on Saints jersey because of his high ranking in draft picks, McCoy believes he deserves no much less than what Bradford can get, and of course no more than Bradford.

Raiders DE Richardson wants expanded role
The Oakland Raiders defensive end Jay Richardson wants to prove that he can actually do better than expected as long as he is given the chance. With two weeks left before the team’s training camp, he is now ready to face competition and impress coaching staff with improved skills.
"(Coaches) were like 'On running downs we want Jay out there because he can definitely do a good job stopping the run,'" Richardson said. "And that was cool. Don't get me wrong. But as you grow in this league, as you learn, as you progress and get better at what you do and really study the position and your craft, you want to be the total package. Every defensive end wants to be a complete defensive end."
Richardson was drafted by the Raiders in 2007 as a fifth-round pick and earned starting job in late 2007 season and remained the starter in 2008 season. However, his production decreased a lot in late 2008 season and lost the starting job to Richard Seymour and became a back up last season. Making only three sacks in the past two seasons, Richardson does not seem to have any advantage in the competition. But his chance came after another starter Greg Ellis was released in the offseason.

Receiving a Michael Irvin jersey in January on his 26th birthday, Richardson now is hoping that he would receive his favorite Brett Favre jersey next January to celebrate both birthday and post-season victories.

Former Rams starting QB Bulger is now Ravens backup QB
The Baltimore Ravens just signed ten years veteran quarterback Marc Bulger to a one-year contract worth $3.8 million, so the former St. Louis Rams starting quarterback will play as a backup for Ravens young starter Joe Flacco in 2010 season. At age 33, Bulger said he would fine to play a backup role with one of his favorite teams.
"It should be a different role, but it was made clear to me up front that would be my role there," Bulger said today during a conference call. "I understand whatever capacity I can help Joe, I'll do it. It's just about helping us win football games."
Bulger previously was expecting to land on another his favorite team the New Orleans Saints, who are also in need of a backup quarterback for starter Drew Brees. However, the Saints plan to wait until the deadline for signing unrestricted free agent to pick a free agent as their backup quarterback. They did not expect that Bulger would be signed away by the Ravens. DT Haynesworth in working hard to prepare for upcoming season
The Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth actually never stopped working hard to give better performance in new season, although he has skipped all the team’s offseason workouts. According to the tackle’s personal trainer, Haynesworth had been working so hard that he had lost 32 pounds from the beginning of the offseason to now.
"Albert, he's the type of person that doesn't want to disappoint anybody, but he's very business-minded. I think it has motivated him quit e a bit, just seeing what his teammates are saying about him and seeing what everybody in the press is saying about him," trainer Tripp Smith told The (Fredericksburg, Va.) Free Lance-Star. "I told him, 'If you show up and are playing like an animal, they're going to forget about the fact that you didn't go to a two-day minicamp or whatever happened aside from football.'"

He has been out of the league for the past three seasons but did not ever announce retirement. According to reports, he divorced his wife earlier in the year and started the relationship with Simpson since May.

Although he has been less famed since leaving football, he is still a good match for Simpson because the star singer also has faded quite a bit from the spotlight since ending his relationship with Romo.
